Why use Reddit as growth channel for B2B SaaS?
If you are not using communities to grow your B2B SaaS - you are missing out. Here is how I hacked growth on Reddit - and consistently get over 200K impressions per week. Booking demos and signing new customers, based on deal flow from Reddit 👀
Communities are big in 2024, and community-led growth is just getting bigger..
And it's kind of funny how closely my own journey on Reddit, mirrors what I heard on Lenny's Podcast last week 👇
As Head of Growth at Deel, Meltem Kuran Berkowitz, shared her experience working with Reddit as an early growth channel. A big recommend if you are into growth hacking - and haven't listened in already…
Three ways to interact on Reddit
Here are three ways you can interact on Reddit to learn more about your ideal customer, or grow your SaaS. Either, you can:
Comment - the easiest way to get started, start building some reputation (Reddit karma), get inspiration for posts, and plug your software in relevant conversations
Post - require more work than a simple comment, but can also get you a ton of exposure if done right
DM - a direct way to reach specific users you have identified through posts or comments, not scalable, but can be efficient to build strong relationships
Commenting: Joining relevant conversations
Commenting is a great way to start off on Reddit. But also, as a tool to join in on relevant conversations where people are already looking for solutions you are offering, looking for alternatives to your competitors, or similar.
This is awesome because you can find relevant leads at the right time and join the conversations - either to learn more or plug your solution directly.
Here is how you can find and join relevant conversations on reddit.
Use an alert tool
Or, simply manually search every week for relevant keywords around your startup
If you have a HR SaaS making interviews better, for example you can search for topics around this like: "hr software", "host interviews", "run interviews", "interview tool", "interview tool", "recruit help", "<competitor alternative>", etc.

Then just join the conversation and help out. Be genuinely helpful. Provide tips and tricks, recommend alternative solutions, and plug your SaaS subtly where it fits. Don't be corporate. Be a peer.
Posting: Starting new conversations (4 examples that have done well)
Posting is about starting entirely new conversations with the Reddit community - either around your startup, with the ICP you are communicating with, or on the topics you are solving.
Here are 4 types of posts that have worked well for me and getting leads for my B2B SaaS.
Example 1: The relatable post (118K)
Share something relatable for the subreddit with a open question where you ask people for advice, or simply rant about a familiar topic that get's other people fired up. Spark conversation and enjoy the ride as your target audience jumps in, enriching the post with their comments and input.
Example 2: The guide post (42K)
Share helpful learnings of something you have tried that the community can benefit from - either avoiding making costly mistakes, or setting some inspiring examples.
Example 3: The conversation starter post (335K)
Spark some conversation where people learn from each other. These posts can be hugely helpful as they leverage the power of the community. You encourage everyone to chip in with value, and you are associated with all the value that is generated in the post.
Also, with lots of comments, the post will gain visibility and reach the top of Reddit (and the Google SERP)
This post has gained me over 300K impressions (!) - with zero spend.
Example 4: The story post (31K)
People love a good story - why founder-led content and building in public is so effective amongst successful SaaS founders.
Tell a story about your startup, or the problem you are solving. Give some tips and helpful learnings, and subtly plug your startup as part of the story.

5 takeaways how to use Reddit for B2B SaaS growth
Anyways, here are my 5 takeaways from over 1M impressions on Reddit:
1. 🔍 Find relevant subreddits
Make sure they are big enough to get substantial reach, and your ICP is present.
You can analyze tonality of the subreddits abit first, to make sure you get a flying start once you activate yourself - and start contributing.
2. 💬 Become a contributor
Don't be passive consumer of content. That will restrict your learning. Also, without contributing, commenting and posting - you will not get any of that sweet exposure.
Building “karma” on your account gives you influence - just like a large following would. Redditors love talking about themselves, help, and share. So ask open questions, but make sure they’re not to difficult to answer..
3. 🚨 Use an alert tool
Monitor relevant questions to make sure you are there first - to provide value and answers. Build your topical authority.
4. 👊🏼 Buckle up, Reddit can be ruthless
Each subreddit has its own rules, know these and find the right tonality. If you don’t, you will get kicked out asap.
5.💡 Shoot your shot, play by the rules
Don’t post direct links, don’t be spammy, and don’t be corporate.
Instead. Be personal, transparent, provide a bunch of value, and then finally - mention why it would be worth checking your solution out.
Write like a human being would, not like a company would.
Provide lists, top 10 tools for sales people in 2024, top 3 ways to find more leads, etc.
Conclusion
Reddit is way underrated as growth channel for B2B SaaS. It's still not very saturated, and Reddit pots have high authority on Google. People go to Reddit for honest and transparent advice. So, become a contributor and tap into the power of communities and you can consistently get millions of impressions in a relevant target audience.
